- Test quality of products produced and use results to determine if machines are operating to specification
- Recognise signs of equipment or product degradation and impending failure
- Examine maintenance records to ensure that plant machinery and equipment does not require simple maintenance
- Access calibration records and test equipment to determine if plant is operating within calibration
- Identify possible causes of substandard performance through testing and elimination techniques
- Assess adjustments and corrections made based on testing
- Check plant and equipment to ensure correct operation and accurately document results of rectification
- Instruct machine operators
